Bathrooms built to stay dry

Tile is only the surface. What makes a bathroom last is what sits behind it: a waterproofing membrane on the walls and floor of the shower, a properly sloped shower base, sealed niches and a fan that actually moves air out of the house. We build every shower that way, because a leak behind new tile is the most expensive mistake in a renovation.

What we do in Windsor bathrooms

  • Walk-in and curbless showers. Glass, low or no curb, linear drains and built-in niches and benches.
  • Tub-to-shower conversions. The old tub comes out and a walk-in shower goes in the same space. A popular change for homeowners who want an easier, safer bathroom.
  • Bathtubs. Freestanding tubs, alcove tubs with tiled surrounds, and tub replacements.
  • Heated floors. Electric floor heating under tile, with a programmable thermostat.
  • Vanities and storage. Single and double vanities, medicine cabinets, linen storage.
  • Toilets, fixtures and lighting. New plumbing fixtures, vanity lighting, pot lights and a quiet exhaust fan vented outside.
  • Accessible bathrooms. Curbless entries, grab bar backing in the walls, wider doors and comfort-height toilets, for aging in place.

Tub-to-shower conversions

Many bathrooms in Windsor houses still have the original tub with a shower head over it. Swapping it for a walk-in shower is one of the best value upgrades you can make: the room feels bigger, getting in and out is safer, and cleaning is easier. If the house has another tub, resale is rarely affected. We remove the tub, check and repair the floor under it, move the drain if needed, waterproof and tile the new shower.

Basement and ensuite bathrooms

Adding a bathroom in the basement or a new ensuite upstairs often means new drain lines and venting. In a basement that can mean breaking the concrete floor to tie into the main drain, or using a pump system where gravity is not enough. New plumbing usually needs a building permit; we prepare it and book the inspections.

How the project runs

  1. Free on-site visit to see the room, the plumbing and what is under the floor where we can.
  2. Written, line-by-line quote with the tile, fixtures and vanity you choose, and a schedule.
  3. Demolition and repairs. Old tile and fixtures come out; any water damage we find is shown to you and fixed properly.
  4. Rough-ins and waterproofing, then tile, glass, vanity and fixtures.
  5. Walkthrough and a test of every fixture and drain with you.

What affects the cost

The main factors are the size of the room, whether fixtures move, the type of shower (a curbless shower takes more floor work than a standard base), tile size and pattern, glass, and the vanity. Your quote shows each item separately, so you can choose where to spend.

Questions

Common questions

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

A bathroom that keeps its layout is faster than one where the toilet, tub or shower move. Waterproofing and tile setting need drying time that we do not rush. You get a written schedule with your quote.

Can you convert my bathtub into a walk-in shower?

Yes. Tub-to-shower conversions are one of our most common bathroom jobs. We remove the tub, repair the floor, waterproof the new shower and finish it with tile and glass.

Do I need a permit for a bathroom renovation in Windsor?

Replacing fixtures, tile and vanities in the same place usually does not. Adding a new bathroom or moving drains usually does. We tell you at the estimate and file the application when it is needed.

Can you make a bathroom accessible for my parents?

Yes. We build curbless showers, add backing for grab bars, widen doors where possible and install comfort-height toilets and handheld showers.

Ready when you are. The estimate is free.
