Flooring Installation in Windsor

Flooring installation in Windsor and Essex County: luxury vinyl plank, hardwood, laminate and tile, installed flat, quiet and tight to the walls. Most flooring problems start underneath, so that is where we start.

  • Luxury vinyl plank
  • Hardwood
  • Engineered wood
  • Laminate
  • Tile
  • Stairs

The floor is only as good as what is under it

Squeaks, gaps, cracked tile and planks that click apart almost always come from the subfloor, not from the flooring. Before we install anything, we check the floor for flatness, loose or soft spots and moisture. Most manufacturers ask for the floor to be flat within about 3/16 inch over 10 feet; we grind high spots, fill low ones and screw down loose subfloor so the new floor lasts and keeps its warranty.

Floors we install

  • Luxury vinyl plank (LVP). Waterproof and tough, a good choice for kitchens, basements and busy homes with kids and pets.
  • Hardwood. Solid hardwood for main floors, nailed down over a proper subfloor and given time to acclimate first.
  • Engineered hardwood. Real wood on a stable core, which handles Windsor's humid summers and dry winters better than solid wood in some rooms.
  • Laminate. A budget-friendly wood look for bedrooms and living areas.
  • Porcelain and ceramic tile. For entries, kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms, including large-format tile laid flat with levelling systems.
  • Stairs. New treads and risers, or stairs capped to match the new floor, with nosings that are safe underfoot.

Basements and concrete floors

Concrete holds moisture and stays cool. In basements we test for moisture, use an underlayment or insulated subfloor where it helps, and choose a floor made for below-grade use, usually vinyl plank or tile. We avoid solid hardwood on concrete.

Flooring as part of a bigger renovation

Many of our flooring jobs are part of a kitchen, basement or full-home renovation. Installing floors in the right order, after the messy work and before the trim, saves money and gives a cleaner finish. If you are planning other work, tell us at the estimate.

Questions

Common questions

What is the best flooring for a Windsor home with kids and pets?

Luxury vinyl plank is the most forgiving: waterproof, scratch-resistant and comfortable. Tile is the toughest for entries and laundry rooms.

Can you install new flooring over my old floor?

Sometimes. Vinyl plank can go over some flat, well-bonded floors, but carpet, cushioned vinyl and loose tile must come out. We check at the estimate.

Do you move furniture and remove the old floor?

We remove and dispose of the old flooring. Tell us about heavy furniture and appliances when we visit, and we will plan for them in the quote.

How long before I can walk on the new floor?

Floating floors like vinyl plank and laminate can be walked on right away. Tile needs the setting materials to cure first; we tell you how long for your floor.
