What a kitchen renovation with us includes
Every kitchen we build in Windsor starts with the same question: what doesn't work today? Too little counter space, a fridge that blocks the walkway, no place to sit, cabinets that are falling apart. We design around those answers, then take the job from demolition to the last cabinet handle.
- Layout and design. We measure the room, look at plumbing, venting and load-bearing walls, and draw a plan you can see before anything is ordered.
- Cabinets. Custom, semi-custom or ready-to-assemble, with soft-close hardware, pantry pull-outs and tall storage where it makes sense.
- Counters. Quartz, granite and other stone, templated after the cabinets are installed so the fit is exact.
- Islands and peninsulas. Seating, storage, a prep sink or a cooktop, with the clearance a busy kitchen needs.
- Backsplash and tile. Ceramic, porcelain or stone, set straight and sealed.
- Lighting and electrical. Pot lights, under-cabinet lighting and new circuits for appliances, done by a licensed electrical contractor with the ESA inspection.
- Plumbing and venting. Sink and dishwasher moves, gas lines where needed and a range hood vented to the outside.
- Flooring and finishing. New floors, drywall, paint and trim, so the kitchen looks finished and not patched.
Opening up the kitchen
Many homes in Windsor, from post-war bungalows to 1990s two-storeys, have a closed kitchen. Removing the wall to the dining or living room is one of the most requested changes we see. If the wall is load-bearing, an engineer sizes a new beam, we apply for the building permit and support the structure while the wall comes out. The result is one open room with an island in the middle and light from both sides.
How the project runs
- Free on-site visit. We measure, listen and talk through budget and timing.
- Design and written quote. A drawing of the new layout and a line-by-line quote, so you see what each part of the job costs.
- Ordering and permits. Cabinets and counters are ordered, and the permit is filed with the City of Windsor if the work needs one.
- Build. Demolition, rough-ins, inspections, drywall, cabinets, counters, backsplash, fixtures. We keep the rest of the house clean and protected.
- Walkthrough. We go through every door and drawer with you before we call the job done.
What affects the cost of a kitchen in Windsor
No two kitchens cost the same. The biggest factors are the size of the room, the cabinet line, the counter material, whether plumbing or walls move, and the appliances. Keeping the sink and range where they are saves money; opening a load-bearing wall adds engineering and a beam. Your quote lists each of these as its own line, so you can decide where to spend and where to save.
Living with the renovation
Most families stay in the house while we work. We can set up a temporary kitchen with a fridge and microwave in another room, and we tell you in advance which days the water or power will be off. You have one project lead to call for everything.
